What's really scary about Halloween

For the first time in my life, I will not be trick or treating. My youngest -- my candy buddy -- has a party, and so I have no one to go out with, no one to ring doorbells with me.
I've always had someone to trick or treat with -- younger siblings, then my own children. Now, nada. No grandchildren yet, which is fine with me. Still...still...
This is so strange! This makes me feel so old!

You're not old - you're just a spring chicken! You have many more halloweens ahead of you, I am sure.

However, I would like to say that the number of trick-or-treaters has greatly diminished in the past 10 years. I remember having to buy LOTS of candy and the door bell ringing all night long.....
Last night, we got ONE group of middle school girls with their moms and that's all! Perhaps it's because of all the cities that have started having street parties or parents that prefer to send them to a party with friends. I don't know why but there is a definite decline in gobblins at our doors in recent years.

What does that say about us? Is it really a safety concern? Are we as parents overly protective? I don't know.

My son is almost 14 and went out with 5 of his friends in a small
area aroun us and he had a great time. My wife, my 10 year old daughter and I went out trick or
treating and everyone met back at our house for pizza and soda at
8:30 pm. We all had a good time but
when it is gone from us we will miss it as you do. These day's of
our lives ae great if you do them
all.

Why trick or treaters are scarce? Don't you listen to the daily news regarding predators and bandits? There's no peace in parent's life today...

And what I consider not only scary but diabolic are costumes and masks...? Come on, each year they're worse. They resemble the cult for evil...
