Sticking it to us

Government officials and Marlins reps are very close to a deal to get a new stadium built. In this particular contract, the public's tab has gone up.
Why should my money go to fund a home for a wealthy owner and his team?

Mr Diaz and friends should let us vote on the issue. I hope that Mr. Abraham wins his lawsuit and it gets on the ballot. I would vote against it but if the outcome is that the majority votes for it then so be it. I just don't like having it imposed on us taxpayers!

Must be nice, people are losing their homes, but we will have a baseball stadium. Lets take all this money and give it to the taxpayers to lower their property taxes so they can stay in their homes. Something is wrong when I read a billboard today that said 17 Billion in Lottery to Florida schools, the schools should be funded for the next 20 years at that amount.

80% of Florida voters are opposed to using tax money to fund professional sports stadiums.

This is a misappropriation of our tax money.

Let us vote.

People are numb, scared or just ignorant. I think the latter is prevalent here in Miami-Dade given the background of most of the residents. (I’m not trying to make a racial slur, I just have a theory from the little knowledge that I have about residents in south Florida and the fear that must still be in their blood). The people of south Florida are used to not speaking out against the government or any government officials.

So, the problem is: how do you mount a defense or protest against the city and county elected officials (criminals) when the population at large is petrified of the government?

Politicians in Miami-Date are robbing us blind. The baseball club is a private business, why can’t they pony-up and pay for their own capital equipment like any other business?

I’ll bet that at any given moment in time there are more people working the restaurants in downtown Coconut Grove than there could be on a good day at the ball park. These are private businesses and they don’t have their hands in my pocket.

How about building a park?
How much park can we get for $525 million?
Does anyone think that $525 million worth of parks would attract any tourists? I think it would more than a baseball stadium.

I love sports. I love to play and occasionally I like to spectate, but I would much prefer to spend my time doing activities in a park than watching any sporting event.

Please give us more parks. Big one, little ones, mid-sized ones.

How do you convince people that it is their money that is getting squandered?
How do we get people motivated to revolt against this grand-theft of tax dollars?
