1972 Dolphins remain on the pedestal

As usual, we crossed the street to go to my neighbor's Super Bowl party, a tradition we've maintained for years. Usually the star attraction is the food. This time, the food was great, sure, but that game -- wow!
The best part about it: Everybody -- along with the rest of Miami -- was cheering against New England. Those of us who remember the euphoria of the 1972 Dolphins' perfect season didn't want that record upset, and certainly not by the Pats. (Remember the snow plow incident?)
New England's loss just goes to show what an incredible feat that perfect season is.

Ana, I am with you 100%!

As a life-long Dolfan, I have never liked the Patriots (or the Bills and Jets for that matter. But, the whole "Spygate" situation and the coach's and team's arrogant reaction to getting caught gave us all a bad taste in our mouth.

It was good to see HEART and TEAMWORK win the day. The NY Giant's defense was amazing and the offence did not let them down. Incredible game.

Congratulations to the Giants and much love and respect to our 1972 Dolphins. It would have been a sad day to see the "dirty" Patriots on the same list as the Perfect Team.

Kuch should have gotten into the Hall of Fame - many years ago. In the eyes and hearts of 'Phins fans - he has been there since 1972!!!

Go DOLPHINS -- THANKS Giants!!

I couldn't agree more. The last several years have been tough as a Dolfan, but this is nice. Unfortunately, it doesn't make the Dolphins any better but it least leaves intact the classy legacy of Shula's team.

Go 'Phins.

I agree with you --- mostly. It's great that the Giants won - between the cheating and the arrogance, we are so sick of the Patriots. However, as far as the '72 Dolphins are concerned - nobody will ever upset that record because no other team will ever be the FIRST team to go undefeated. That title will never be erased.

It was an incredible feat at the time and still stands now -- and just think, they didn't have to video tape the other teams' practices or try to steal their signals. Imagine that!!

Go Dolphins - we will always love you win or lose.

Sweet! After all the boasting, posturing and running up the scores the N.E.Patriots had to settle for seconds.

Their fans spoke disparagingly about our Dolphins Perfect Season only to have their idols fall from the pedestal they had placed them on.

I sincerely hope the N.E. Patriots and their fans have learned that it took more than talk to accomplish the Perfect Season. It can be compared to a first-time parent or grandparent it happens just once after. Oh well!
