Adios for the holidays

This is my last day before what I think is a well-deserved vacation. (Truth be told, my MIND has been on vacation for the past three days!) I'm not doing anything special during these two weeks, but I intend to relax and putter as much as I can, considering all the festivities -- Nochebuena and Christmas -- are at my house.
Mainly I'm going to enjoy my children and my absolutely beautiful twin granddaughters. Just thinking about those little babies brings a smile to my face. Having them in my life is the best Christmas gift of all.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family. Enjoy those babies and write about the "abuela" version of Family Matters when you get back.

There are a lot of us facing the same wonderful situation. With the baby boomers aging quickly, there are more and more abuelas and abuelos every day. What a wonderful thing that is!!

God bless you!

I find it interesting how much is taking place in this community - both good and bad...and in the Herald.

The Herald had a large article about a "rapper" who was arrested for D.U.I. giving him tens of thousands of dollars of P.R.. yet, I saw no mention of the Turkey Point/county commission vote on expanding the Turkey Point nuclear power plant. An article was printed after the fact.

What are your feelings about this? Do you feel that this proposal will have any possible consequences for families?

How do you feel about the millions of gallons of water consumption, daily?

It all comes down to quality of life in this community. How do parents look at these issues?

I am asking because I am sincerely interested in how this column's readers address such issues.

Ana, I had a quick question for you? I have read your bio, and wonder if you have any advice for a person with aspirations of being a writer? I have read that if you want to be a writer, you must read read read. I love reading! This would be like a second career for me.

I've been a nurse for 18 years and have a Master's degree, so I've written lots of papers. I wrote out a children's book about grandmas and abuelas, and contacted XLIBRIS and basically if I pay them the money they would publish it.

Is that how it works?

Would appreciate any tips.
REALLY loved your column about the passing down of mom's Christmas ornaments. You make everyday life sound interesting!
Thanks,
Joan
