And you wonder why schools are having problems
Two top Miami-Dade educators are feuding over racist remarks. Rep. Arza apologized, saying he did not mean to offend. Schools chief Crew has refused to accept the apology.
My friend, a public schools counselor, is enraged over the incident. She wonders why she bothers to teach her students about conflict resolution, walking away from fights and being the bigger person when these two powerful men are basically negating all her lessons. "I want to tell them, 'Grow up already!'" she said this morning.

I as an parent of the Dade County School system, I believe that it's hard to just brush off a comment made by an "elected" official. This is not an fued at all, this is a direct insult against a person's chracter and ability. I don't know if anyone else knows what "nigger" means, but I can tell you that Dr. Crew is not one. Just check out the FCAT scores over the past two years that were imposed on us by a white male. Look at the irony there! Dr. Crew is bringing the school system up! Is Mr. Arza threatened by that?
Just for the record nobody said nigger. He said "negro".....
It is apparent to me that Arza has a big mouth and has actually not apologized CORRECTLY. He got caught calling the Superintendent a "negro de mierda" which means something not very nice and has done a poor job of showing regret and remourse.
He has done the public and political work of "making up" but has not dealt directly with the offended party in privacy to apologize.
If one of my kids acted like that when caught behaving badly, we would not consider his apology genuine and send him away to work on the correct way of addressing this issue.
Mr. Crew has every right to be angry. Mr. Arza has a lot of growing up to do.
Why should Rudy Crew accept a facetious apology when those comments should have never been made in the first place. It just shows how ignorant Arza is to begin with that he would resort to such base and primitive behavior. And, don't think he apologized out of the goodness of his heart.
