Deja vu
I guess it was wishful thinking on my part. I thought we would go through August without the threat of a hurricane. Not!
A potential storm is forming in the deep tropics. Though it's thousands of miles away and no danger to us, why do I still get this prickly feeling in the back of my neck?
Having gone through Andrew (which forced us out of our house for 8 months), then Katrina and Wilma (blue tarp for months), the mere thought of gusting winds ruins my day.

EVERYONE in the U. S. A. should pay for our Hurricane Insurance, because everyone is contributing in MANUFACTURING these HURRICANES.
EVERYONE should write a check directly to the Insurance Company.
for $5.00, $10.00, or $20.00 dollars per person, per YEAR.
It would come out to peanuts.
It is not fair that only a few of us along the coast are getting the IMPACT !
NOONE should write a check to a National Catastrophe Fund.
Because, FIGA NEVER PAID ME !
FIGA stands for Floridian Insurance Guaranteed Association.
To me FIGA stands for the following:
Fraud Insurance Guaranteed Association.
After Hurricane Wilma Hit Florida on 10-24-2005 I heard on the Radio that FEMA was giving out Loans for with 1 % percent interest rate. A Realtor friend of mine told me that it is an ADJUSTABLE LOAN.
You see the THE U.S. GOVERNMENT ALWAYS HAS SOMETHING UP THEIR SLEEVES. So when you can not pay your ADJUSTABLE LOAN the U.S. GOVERNMENT WILL TAKE YOUR PROPERTY FROM YOU.
EVERYONE in the U.S.A. should also pay for our TAXES.
Same idea applies $5.00,$10.00 or $20.00 dollars per person, per YEAR. It would come out to peanuts.
IT IS NOT FAIR THAT WE FLORIDIAN ARE BEING EXPLOITED BY THE REST OF THE NATION !
I hate it too. But, keep your fingers crossed and maybe we can get by with just a "pass by" this year.
I, too suffer from the post-traumatic Andrew stress disorder. There is no cure -- except moving away --- far, far, away!
I just love how the media fuels the hype, as if it was a contest.
