Good thing it's been quiet...

...in the tropics. No hurricanes in the forecast and no threat of tropical storms. The entertainment -- and the fury -- has been over at the center where now a congressional hearing will look into the firing of Bill Proenza.
From the stories I've read, it's hard to tell whether Proenza is an outspoken leader who decided to speak his mind to his waffling, inept superiors or if he's a hothead who's created a crisis where there isn't.
But consider the long and troubling history of the Bush Administration's quashing any dissension or scientific inquiry that doesn't fit into its narrow view of life. Maybe Proenza is onto something, and something big.

He shouldn't have made internal email communications public. I heard his outcry on 940 WINZ, and although I bless his well-intentions; I knew then he would be removed as a whistle blower.

It's as if a head honcho for a cattle farm made a claim in that company leaders were not allocating money for better cattle feed; therefore (possibly) causing the dairy products to degrade by 10% and voice email exchanges over it publicly.

Insignificant blunders such as the satellite ordeal, in my opinion, is as least important as a roach problem over at the NHC.

The NHC forecasters argued that Proenza's blabbering may undermine the public's trust in the upcoming hurricanes, and for that reason they wanted Proenza out. Now, we can only expect that forecasters do their best in this years' forecasts (as always), perhaps even better in order to restore integrity and the public.

On the other hand, it would have been a good thing to keep Proenza on board... We would have always known the truth about the NHC.
