The unwanted price of attention

Broward officials claim that the hoopla surrounding Anna Nicole Smith's death didn't cost taxpayers anything "outrageous." They say that costs were kept in check, that some people volunteered, that there were very few overtime hours.
I find that hard to believe. Moreover, it's also hard to fathom that there were not lots of extra costs associated with the courts, the media, and other hanger ons -- not to mention the kooky publicity South Florida received once again.

Gee. that whole Ana Nicole incident was a circus and a half -- I blame our "celebrity-driven" press for that fiasco.

Sad that she died - but she is not the only bimbo to overdose. I am sure that it happens more often than we suspect.

The Broward County angle is only because the woman chose the Hard Rock for her final HURRAH. South Florida is a wonderful place and we attract all kinds of people -- including kooks and weirdos. That's just how it is.

I am not sure that Broward officials are telling the truth about the costs associated with the Ana Circuis - including the court hearings. I am sure that we spent a pretty penny. But on the bright side, we also made some money off the herds of "media" types that were staying here to cover that "news" story. From all the hype I saw, I will bet that Broward County made a nice little profit on that one.
