Miss USA recrowned

Donald Trump, he of the funny hair, proved himself a compassionate man when he gave Miss USA a second chance. Instead of firing her (as everyone thought he would), Trump told the 21-year-old from Kentucky that she could keep the tiara but had to enter rehab and clean up her act. Apparently young Tara had been partying hearty and breaking the moral code of the pageant.
This young woman's fall from grace and her redemption may be the best story to come out of the pageantry circuit in a while. I think Trump may have won over some people, too. Americans love -- and believe in -- second chances.

I agree. Second chances are good - I wish that life offered us more of those....unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way.

I think that a lesson can be learned from this episode - and hopefully, the young woman in question will take full advantage of this second chance.

One thing I have been thinking....how many of us cringe when we think of the things that we did when we were her age!?!? Whew! Most people my age (50+) would have to admit to quite a few bad decisions that were not reported on the news. Thank God.

By the way, Rosie O'Donnell has become a pretty tough cookie. First, she attacks Kellie Rippa, then she makes fun of Asian people, then she attacks the Donald. She is one not-so-charming celebrity....

By the way, just WHAT is her talent? I seem to forget.

She was drinking while underage, apparently using cocaine and publicly making out with Miss Teen USA in a bar.

Sorry - she's not living up to the responsibilities for which she signed up when entering the pageant.

As for Trump, I see this as yet another manipulation to garner publicity just as his show "The Apprentice" is set to begin its new season.
