Insurance rates: South Florida's unique albatross

So residents are mad and they can't take it anymore. They're signing petitions, contacting their legislators, planning marches on Tallahassee etc. etc. to make sure our ridiculous homeowners insurance rates come down from the stratosphere.
Good for us!But a word to the wise: Better build up that political muscle with money contributions of some kind.
The insurance company is notorious for being one of the largest and most financially savvy, and I doubt the industry will willingly give up their profits, especially with the latest predictions that next hurricane season may still be a scary one.

EVERYONE IN THE U.S.A. SHOULD PAY FOR OUR HURRICANE INSURANCE,BECAUSE EVERYONE IS CONTRIBUTING IN MANUFACTURING THESE HURRICANES. (EVERYONE SHOULD MAKE A CHECK PAYABLE TO GULFSTREAM INSURANCE CO. FOR $5.00 DOLLARS.)
(IF EVERYONE WRITES A CHECK FOR $5.00 DOLLARS, IT WOULD COME OUT TO PEANUTS PER PERSON)NO ONE SHOULD WRITE A CHECK TO THE U.S.GOVERNMENT,BECAUSE WHEN HURRICANE WILMA HIT, THE U.S.GOVERNMENT WAS OFFERING $25,000.00 LOAN WITH ONE PERCENT INTEREST RATE. WHEN A REALTOR FRIEND OF MINE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS AN ADJUSTABLE LOAN !!!
YOU SEE !! THE U.S. GOVERNMENT ALWAYS HAS SOMETHING UP THEIR SLEEVES !!!!!!!!!!!

THE U.S. GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT !!!
HANDLE THE NATIONAL CATASTROPE FUND,

The infamous 2006 hurricane season forecast which was released last May was nothing short of a mistake. NOAA scientists knew very well that the "la niƱa" pattern was engaging. This new hurricane forecast for 2007 is from Colorado State University not even NOAA. Yet CSU is very credible, I want to say that these forecasts may be very political and economical. Just on the mere basis that it is obvious CSU received a lump some of grants for the crossed-eyed report alone.

Enough of conspiracy theories. What makes sense right now is to have hurricane insurance itemized separately on home owners insurance policies. 10-15 mile + inland homes like mine which have solid single story concrete foundations and are buckled together is a perfect example.

Let's say in the likelihood of a cat 5 humming through Miami in 10-40 years from now-- the only damage I might see is only exterior in which insurance companies now won't cover. With the money I would have spent on hurricane insurance I would nest it in a misc. bank savings account and pay for my own repairs. After all whatever interior detail that would have been caused would have not exceeded the absurd $8,000 deductible.

All in all, it would be common sense for our statesman to propose something like this to insurance companies and make it a LAW TO allow consumers to ITEMIZE their insurance policies! Get out and call your congressmen and local representatives for support!!!
