He's not worth it, honey
Talk about a love triangle! Turns out a female astronaut has been arrested for wanting to "take care" of her potential rival in the competition for the affections of another astronaut, a shuttle commander. Sad part, this woman is married and has three kids.
What's more, I saw the picture of the man in question in his space suit. As one of the women in the gym said this morning while we all watched the news, "He's not worth it, honey."
Actually, even if he was Brad Pitt's double, Mrs. Astronaut should've had more pride.
Could her reaction have been a result of her space mission last year?

Ana,
You said: "Could her reaction have been a result of her space mission last year?"
By this, you mean, is she acting SPACEY!?!? ha ha!
Sorry, I could not resist.
About this story, though, I am feeling sorry for her family that has to see this on National news. How humiliating - as if the betrayal was not painful enough.
She is a fool.
The other thing is that the other woman acted quickly and was able to get the authorities to intervene. Who knows how far it would have gone. She did all the right things to avoid harm. Good for her.
Crazy lady in a diaper with a wig comes after me with mace and tools!?!?! RUN!!
Ana,
your commentary here surprises and disappoints me. You seem to be trivializing this woman's intentions which clearly have criminal character. Not even a "crush" on Brad Pitt would justify these actions, and they have nothing to do with pride. The sad part is that this woman was driven to insanity by her "love-sickness", and that we typically would expect a higher standard from our nation's astronauts. I had expected a different outlook from you, to be honest.
Ana,
I agree with the last comment on your blog. This is a horrible situation that has nothing to do with pride. It is obvious this woman is not well. It has nothing to do with whether or not he was a Brad Pitt look-a-like. She has jeopardized her career, family and social standing all for a distorted view of love and lust. It's very unfortunate.
i agree with last two posters, Ana you are way off base. Perhaps your own life is too well insulated by comfort and security. Obviously Nowak is not well, the real question is why. Your superficial assessment based on looks is a dreadful, sad example of American culture today. Your comments simply serve to perpetuate the awful spiral American morality is in. Way to go, Ana, you represent the pride of journalism.
Dear Mrs. Suarez,
I can't help but taking exception to your comment "he's not worth it". How prejudicial and biased! Do you usually base your judgement on how a person looks on a picture? Wouldn't you think that not-so-handsome guys can also be good persons with good feelings? On the other hand, this crazy, psychotic woman is an adulterer, and you still have the guts to show sympathy for her?? What about her husband? What about her kids? How about showing some sympathy for them as well?
I know that some women make automatic female solidarity a way of life. But you are a writer who should know better and maintain an objective editorial line, and in this case your shameful display of female fanaticism is simply pathetic.
If I were to use your same flawed logic, after looking at your picture you sure would not be worth it either, sweetie...
I think that she just snapped. Luckily she did not really do any damage to the other woman who was able to drive away unharmed.
I think she should be held responsible for her actions but not attempted murder. She is a highly educated woman and surely its not an act for a sane person to do. She obviously snapped. spending time with this other guy she obviously thought she was in love with but in fact it was just being away from home and missing the attention of her family. I think stress of her job and being away from her home and her space mission caused her some mental anguish.
WOW - you sure stirred up some stuff today!!
Lookie here - all these posts take you to task for saying that your friend at the gym said that the guy was not worth it.
Well, I agree - he is not worth it. Not because of his looks - but because of everything she put into jeopardy. She has cause (no doubt) pain and embarrassment to her husband and children, she has brought bad publicity to the space program, and she has given wigs, adult diapers, and trench coats a bad reputation.
I just looked at your photo to see if that poster was right about your looks -- and you look just fine to me.
The reactions to this blog show that people these days take EVERYTHING too seriously. What drama!
It is a funny story - a crazy astronaut of all things - in a wig - diapers - and a trench coat???
If someone told you this story - before yesterday - you would think it is incredible. Way too crazy.
Poor woman - she went from space hero to space cadet!
And to think she was using NASA issued diapers. Tax payers monies at work......
