Too much FCAT
The last of my kids, a ninth grader, is taking the FCAT today. He usually does well, so I'm not worried. But he said something last night that echoes what a lot of teachers tell me: Everything around school is set up around this test.
So the question remains: Are we teaching our kids to think or bubble in answers?

YES!
I agree.
You can thank the BUSH brothers for that insanity. All these highly trained educators are waisting their educations on teaching kids how to pass a test. All the attention to the test and not enough attention to EDUCATION.
My son always scores very well on these tests but I am not all that impressed. I would rather see him spend more time discussing history, art, music, and all the other things that are totally ignored by the FCAT driven system.
I am very disspointed.
