Broken any commandments lately?

So the Vatican hands down the 10 religious rules for the road, and I realize I have sinned on a regular basis. How can you not driving in Miami? The only "commandment" I have remained very, very clear of: showing off with my car. I drive a Honda Civic, and before that I've always owned modest cars for very long periods of time. Like over 140,000 miles.
Nonetheless, for all my modesty, I've been known to speed, to cut other drivers off, to curse etc. etc.
Though they have no burning bush to announce them, these new commandments sure are getting lots of attention. But how many will truly follow them?

This is just silly, I think. There are way more important issues to deal with in today's world.

All the "commandments" are common sense.

I have one that is more important for the vatican to dwell on -- "Thou shalt protect our children from pedophiles."

Take that one to heart, and you won't be losing so many members.

If I were the Vatican, I'd be more concerned with the Lists of 10 that had more relevance to the life of an aging Pope, like the Ten Worst Catholic Illnesses:

10. Stigmataburculosis
9. A bad case of the Anti-Christs
8. Vaticancer
7. St Francis of Alopecia
6. Exorcysts
5. Blasphemeasels
4. Immaculate Consumption
3. Hymnorrhoids
2. Hairy Psalms
1. Ave, Malaria

Man, you don't want any part of the blasphemeasels, that's some ugly stuff.

One would think that the ORIGINAL 10 Commandments would be good enough to apply to ANY circumstance in our lives.

NOOOOOOO!

The Vatican is sure that driving constitutes a totally different situation, worthy of it's own set of commandment. EXCUSE ME....

The papal office has become so out of touch with reality and life in this century that they actually believe that anyone would take these "new" rules seriously.

As if we were small children and the nanny made up new rules for us.

It's a sign that their time came and went. They should concentrate on the 10 commandments of keeping their priests away from young boys.

Leave the driving to us.

The coverage of this is ridiculous. The Drivers' Commandments are a small section of a larger document called "Guidelines for the Pastoral Care of the Road". Part 1 deals with drivers. The other parts are about what goes on next to the street. Part 2 is about women of the street (i.e. sexworkers), Part 3 is about homeless children and Part 4 is about homeless people in general.
Context matters...that's why people turn for information to the Daily Show and Blogs because the regular media ignores context.
